Wine taverns
They go back to 500 BC – taverns in the vineyards, run by the growers. Emperor Josef II liked the idea, and made an institution of the wine tavern by decree. You can be sure of companionable surroundings at a tavern that sports the “echt. guat.” sign. Quality wine taverns offer a host of good things – homemade delicacies, home-baked bread, recipes dreamed up by the chef, and wine (including Uhudler) or Most (semi-fermented grape juice) to wash them down.
